On December 29, 2025, Peking University People’s Hospital inaugurated the Institute of Medical Artificial Intelligence. This move marks a significant step in fully integrating AI  into  the hospital's development strategy and deepening the convergence of advanced technology with clinical research.

The Institute will develop end-to-end, clinically driven platforms for AI research, validation, and implementation. Key focus areas include multimodal data processing, medical AI model development, and AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment. It will utilize the hospital’s extensive clinical resources and proprietary datasets within a secure, in-house research environment equipped with high-performance computing and rigorous data protection measures.

President Wang Jun emphasized that the Institute must remain firmly oriented toward real clinical needs. Party Secretary Wang Jianliu noted that the Institute will strengthen the integration of research, clinical care, and medical education, serving as a new engine for the hospital’s future development.
