On March 21, 2025, a delegation from Juntendo University visited Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH). The delegation of seven members was led by Vice Director Rie Ueki and Vice Director Nobuhito Shibata of Juntendo Tokyo Koto Geriatric Medical Center, which is affiliated with Juntendo University School of Medicine. Ms. Bai Jing from the Office of International Cooperation at Peking University Health Science Center accompanied the delegation. The meeting was attended by Director Shao Xiaofeng from the Administration Office at PKUPH, as well as representatives from the Department of Geriatric Medicine, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Department of Dermatology, the Nursing Department, and the Office of International Affairs and External Cooperation.

On behalf of the hospital, Director Shao Xiaofeng extended a warm welcome to the Juntendo University delegation. She emphasized that the two institutes have shared a similar philosophy in medical education to cultivate internationally competent medical professionals as their core mission and similar pursuits of "Benevolence" and "Continuously Moving Forward". This shared ethos has laid a solid foundation for collaboration between the two institutes. She particularly highlighted that, facing the global trend of an aging population, the Juntendo Tokyo Koto Geriatric Medical Center has established a good example in the older care system. Its pioneering achievements in geriatric medicine provide valuable insights for addressing the challenges posed by global aging. She hoped that this visit would facilitate in-depth discussions on the latest research findings and clinical practices in relevant medical fields and help create opportunities for collaboration in medical technology, scientific research, and other areas.

Vice Director Rie Ueki expressed gratitude for the hospital’s warm hospitality. She then provided a brief introduction to Juntendo University, emphasizing that the university’s motto of “Benevolence”, its educational philosophy of "Continuously Moving Forward" and its school culture of "Three Noes Principle" have constituted its invaluable spiritual heritage.

Later, representatives from the Office of International Affairs and External Cooperation at PKUPH and Juntendo Tokyo Koto Geriatric Medical Center introduced their respective institutes. The representatives from Juntendo Tokyo Koto Geriatric Medical Center explained that, although the center was initially established for elderly patients, it has become a comprehensive medical service system capable of providing high-quality medical care for adult patients over the past years. The center has accumulated extensive clinical experience in cognitive disorders and diseases specific to the elderly treatment, rehabilitation training, and emergency medical care for elderly patients. Following this, the representatives of the Department of Geriatric Medicine, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Department of Dermatology at PKUPH also provided overviews of their respective departments. Both sides expressed strong interest and enthusiasm for scientific research collaboration in geriatric medicine and personnel exchange programs.

Peking University People's Hospital and Juntendo University signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in 2017. In recent years, the two institutes have maintained close ties in personnel training and academic exchanges. The hospital has sent nursing and administrative staff to Juntendo University and its affiliated hospitals for study visits, and its multiple professors have visited the university as Peking University Health Science Center Delegation members. It is expected that the two institutes will deepen their cooperation to contribute jointly to the health and well-being of people in China, Japan, and beyond.
