The 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), a key global event in gender equality and women's empowerment, was held at the UN headquarters in New York from March 10 to 21. This conference reviewed the progress made in implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action over the past 30 years, attracting global experts, scholars, government officials, and women's rights advocates.

Professor Wang Jianliu, Vice President of Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH) and Chief Physician of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at PKUPH, was invited to attend CSW69 and participate in the side event Accelerating Action: Women, Technology, and a Sustainable Future. He delivered a keynote speech titled Fertility Preservation in Young Women with Cancers: Current Practices and Future Directions, systematically outlining China's innovative practices in preserving fertility for young patients with gynecologic cancers.

Professor Wang Jianliu emphasized that with the rapid advancement of medical technology, the survival rates of gynecologic cancer patients have significantly improved. However, the issue of fertility preservation for young patients has become increasingly prominent. He called on the global medical community and society to join forces in prioritizing women's fertility preservation. Fertility preservation is not only a medical breakthrough but also a crucial issue concerning women's rights, family well-being, and sustainable social development.

Professor Wang Jianliu also engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Thomas G. Hedberg, Executive Director of the International Medical Crisis Response Alliance, as well as youth representatives from Boston and Toronto, on the critical role of women in healthcare. He also discussed collaboration on the upcoming Global Summit of Women, which China will co-host with UN Women in Beijing later this year.

Furthermore, Professor Wang Jianliu reached a consensus with international social organizations such as the Peaceland Foundation on cooperation in fertility preservation, early screening for cancer and public health education. They plan to launch a series of health promotion and medical assistance initiatives in western China and developing countries in Africa and Asia, sharing China's expertise in early screening and prevention for gynecologic cancers with more regions in need.

During his stay in New York, Professor Wang Jianliu led a delegation to visit the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where he had in-depth exchanges with Professor Dennis S. Chi, Deputy Chief of the Gynecology Service. This visit facilitated the first-ever Chinese edition of Principles and Practice of Gynecologic Oncology (Eighth Edition), with the translation led by Professor Wang Jianliu's team. He also discussed the application of AI technology in predicting cancer treatment outcomes with Professor Lawrence H. Schwartz's Computational Imaging Analysis Lab (CIA Lab) research team at MSKCC.

Professor Wang Jianliu's attendance at CSW69 showcased PKUPH's outstanding achievements in the field of gynecologic oncology, underscoring the responsibility and commitment of Chinese medical professionals to global women's health. Professor Wang Jianliu has led the multidisciplinary team at PKUPH to establish a new treatment model, which has achieved a complete remission rate of over 90% for endometrial cancer. Additionally, the team's 4R concept of "Recovery, Reserve, Reconstruction and Reproduce" in preserving organs and their functions has successfully healed hundreds of reproductive-age women.
