On the afternoon of December 4, 2024, a
delegation from the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)
visited the Tongzhou Campus of Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH) and
the National Emergency Medical Rescue Base. The delegation included Professor
Mohammadeid Mahfouz, Advisor at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties; Dr.
Amjad Ahmad, General Manager for International Marketing of the Saudi
Commission for Health Specialties; and Mr. Saeed Alenezi, General Manager for
International Collaboration of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Professor Wang Tianbing, Vice President of PKUPH
and Vice Chair of the National Center for Trauma Medicine at PKUPH, accompanied
the guests on a tour of the Tongzhou campus's facilities, including the Pre-Hospital
and In-Hospital Emergency Call System, the Trauma Resuscitation Care Unit
(TRCU), the Department of Clinical Laboratory, the Trauma Wards, and the Trauma
Treatment Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education. Ms. Wang Qiuyi, Deputy
Director of the Office of International Affairs and External Cooperation,
provided an in-depth introduction to PKUPH. Ms. Wu
Yanqiu from the General Administration Office of Tongzhou Campus delivered a
clear overview of the National Emergency Medical Rescue Base at PKUPH, highlighting
the rescue base's China Trauma Big Data Platform and newly developed Follow-Up
System. Specialists from the National Emergency Medical Rescue Base and the Department
of Clinical Laboratory also gave a brief introduction to their respective
departments. Representatives from the Education Department and the Scientific
Research Department also joined the tour.
The Tongzhou Campus of PKUPH boasts three academician-led teams specializing in Hematology, Thoracic Surgery, and Trauma Medicine. It offers comprehensive and quality service to address the medical needs of residents in surrounding towns and to align with the overall healthcare plan of Tongzhou District. In 2022, PKUPH became one of the first hospitals to establish the National Emergency Medical Rescue Base. Leveraging resources from the National Center for Trauma Medicine at PKUPH, the rescue base at Tongzhou Campus has trained a professional, standardized, and modern rescue team capable of handling public health emergencies.
The KSA delegation deeply appreciated the
hospital's warm and meticulous reception. They praised the "scenic"
campus environment, the "innovative" Pre-Hospital and In-Hospital
Emergency Call System, and the "advanced" laboratory facilities. They
were particularly impressed by the scale and capabilities of the National
Emergency Medical Rescue Base. The delegation also showed a strong interest in
collaboration, particularly in talent training and specialty development. Vice
President Wang Tianbing emphasized the importance of this visit for
strengthening bilateral cooperation. He expressed hopes for future collaboration
in scientific research, medical services, and talent exchange between the two
countries.
This visit laid a solid foundation for talent
and academic exchange between PKUPH and healthcare institutions in the Middle
East. It also opened new opportunities for improving the health and well-being
of people in China and countries along the Belt and Road.
