Trauma Center | National Center for Trauma Medicine Holds 2024 Annual Academic Conference in Beijing

On October 26, 2024, the National Center for Trauma Medicine's Annual Academic Conference was held at Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH) in Beijing. The significant event brought together over 300 trauma experts nationwide, including esteemed academicians Jiang Baoguo, Jiang Tao, and Tang Peifu.
At the opening ceremony, Academician Jiang Baoguo, the Chair of the National Center for Trauma Medicine at PKUPH, delivered the opening remarks. He reflected on the center's achievements since its establishment in 2019 as guided by the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China. He also highlighted progress in clinical research, translation of research findings, talent cultivation, specialty development, and public health services, reaffirming the center’s commitment to advancing these areas.
Professor Wang Jianliu, Vice President and Party Secretary of PKUPH, also spoke at the ceremony. Representing the hospital leadership, Professor Wang Jianliu commended the center for its contributions to clinical care, education, research, and the hospital's overall development. The hospital would continue to provide comprehensive support for the center’s development.
Academician Tang Peifu, Director-General of the Chinese Society of Traumatology of Chinese Medical Association (CMA), and Professor Hou Lijun, President of the Chinese Society of Traumatology of CMA, praised both the center and Academician Jiang Baoguo for their extraordinary achievements and lasting contributions to trauma medicine.
Professor Zhang Dianying, Chair of the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics at PKUPH, also shared the department's development under Academician Jiang Baoguo’s leadership, from its founding in 1999 to 2024.
This year also marked the forthcoming release of the sixth edition of Fractures and Joint Injuries(《骨与关节损伤》), regarded as the "White Paper" of trauma and orthopaedics. Originally published in 1980 and revised five times, the book, focusing on foundational principles and innovations in the field, has become a cornerstone for practitioners. During the event, a special launch ceremony was held for the sixth edition, with Academician Jiang Baoguo taking on the role of chief editor.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Wang Tianbing, Vice President of PKUPH and Vice Chair of the National Center for Trauma Medicine. Following the ceremony, academicians Jiang Tao, Tang Peifu, and Jiang Baoguo shared insights on topics including motor networks of the brain, emerging trends in orthopaedics, and the mission of the National Center for Trauma Medicine.
The conference also included specialized sessions on new trauma technologies, polytrauma management, periarticular fractures, and fractures in older adults. More than 60 experts nationwide presented their research findings.
