第一届中国—上合组织应急医学国际论坛在首钢园举行
2024-09-20
The 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), "Global Services, Shared Prosperity", was held from September 12th to 16th at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing.
As part of CIFTIS, the First China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Emergency Medicine Forum (hereinafter referred to as the Forum) took place on September 13th. The Forum was hosted by the China-SCO Emergency Medicine Cooperation Center (Peking University People's Hospital and Beijing Red Cross Rescue Center). It included an academic exchange on Day 1 (September 13th) and an emergency drill on Day 2 (September 14th).
As the first event of the China-SCO Emergency Medicine Cooperation Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) since its official establishment in March 2024, the Forum brought together 300 participants, including government officials and emergency medicine experts from seven (out of 10) SCO member countries, convened to exchange insights on emergency medicine's system and capacity building, cross-border disaster medical rescue coordination, and talent cultivation among SCO countries.
The Forum's Opening Ceremony was moderated by Dr. Wang Tianbing, Vice President of Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH) and Vice Chair of the National Center for Trauma Medicine. During the ceremony, the Center proposed the Emergency Medicine Cooperative Development Initiatives to enhance collaborative research and cooperation among member states. Following the ceremony, six academic presentations were delivered by experts from four SCO countries.
The following Panel Discussion was moderated by Dr. Hou Shike, Honorary Dean of the School of Disaster and Emergency Medicine of Tianjin University. The discussion featured in-depth conversations on topics such as the development of China's national emergency rescue bases and international cooperation in emergency medicine. The session concluded with an outdoor visit to the emergency rescue helicopter.
On September 14th, the emergency drill was conducted at PKUPH's Tongzhou campus. This drill tested the response capabilities of the rescue team and hospital staff. Rescue teams from PKUPH and the Red Cross Society of China (Beijing Branch) performed a life-saving operation on a severely injured 35-year-old car accident victim, showcasing the teams' efficiency and coordination in an emergency situation.
The global health emergencies in recent years, including outbreaks of infectious diseases and natural disasters, have posed severe threats to public health worldwide. The healthcare systems of SCO member states are also under pressure to manage these crises, underscoring the urgent need for broad cooperation in emergency medicine.
Looking ahead, Peking University People's Hospital will continue to leverage the China-SCO Emergency Medicine Cooperation Center to promote international academic exchanges in emergency medicine and contribute to global health with Chinese solutions.
