On the morning of July 9, 2024, a delegation from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, led by Ambassador Dorthe Vendelhaven Lange, visited Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH). The delegation included Counsellor Martin William Behbahani, Sector Counsellor Astrid Keur Devantier, Senior Commercial Officers in Health and Life Science at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark and representatives from a Denmark healthcare company.

Wang Tianbing of PKUPH, Chair Ji Linong of the Endocrinology Department at
PKUPH, Chair Rao Huiying of the Peking University Hepatology Institute at
PKUPH, Chair Feng Yufei of the Clinical Trial Office at PKUPH, Deputy Director
Wang Qiuyi of the International Affairs and External Cooperation at PKUPH, and
other relevant staff attended the meeting on the international cooperation in
healthcare between China and Denmark.

Wang Tianbing warmly welcomed the Danish delegation first and provided an
overview of the hospital. When talking about the healthcare system, he
specifically noted the commonalities between China and Denmark in the medical
field, which has reflected the shared concern for public health and laid the
solid foundation for bilateral cooperation. “Facing the same new challenges and
opportunities in the healthcare sector currently, these commonalities will
provide both countries with strong momentum for advancing medical technology
and innovation”, emphasized Vice President Wang Tianbing. He hoped this visit
would promote broader and deeper research cooperation in medical innovation and
application between the two countries.
Ambassador Dorthe
Vendelhaven Lange expressed high respect on behalf of the Government and the
Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark for the hospital's outstanding contributions
to Sino-Danish clinical research cooperation. She also echoed Vice President
Wang Tianbing’s hope for furthering bilateral cooperation in health. Counsellor
Martin William Behbahani then provided a comprehensive overview of Denmark's
healthcare system, life science system, health data and digitalization and
Sino-Danish collaboration within health and life science.
Following this, Chair Ji Linong of the Endocrinology Department, Chair Rao Huiying of Peking University Hepatology Institute and Chair Feng Yufei of the Clinical Trial Office introduced their departments respectively, including development history, clinical services and international research achievements.
During the
subsequent discussion, both sides deeply discussed topics such as digital management
in the healthcare field and how the governments of both countries can empower
healthcare development. The delegation also toured the Endocrinology Outpatient
Clinic and the Clinical Trial Research Laboratory, accompanied by the staff.
This visit is
expected to enhance international cooperation between China and Denmark in
medical innovation and application, building a more robust foundation for
future endeavors.
