The 2023 Annual Conference of the World Association of Chinese Doctors (WACD) and Medical Innovation and Transformation Forum took place on September 22 in Qingdao, Shandong Province. During the event, Professor Huang Xiaojun, the Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Hematologic Diseases and Director of Peking University Hematology Institute, was elected as the Vice President of the Fourth Council of the WACD. He also received the prestigious “World Outstanding Chinese Doctor Award (also known as Fok Ying-Tung Prize)”.

WACD, an academic non-profit international organization formed by medical groups of Chinese doctors from 13 countries and regions, aims to integrate Chinese medical resources worldwide and the development of Chinese and global medicine. The “World Outstanding Chinese Doctor Award”, sponsored by the Fok Ying-Tung Foundation, is the highest honor granted by WACD. It was created to honor outstanding figures among Chinese doctors, thus encouraging Chinese doctors to work toward a healthier world.

Since 2004, Professor Huang Xiaojun's team has made a series of great breakthroughs in leucocythemia, including the famous “Beijing Protocol”. The protocol has been applied in more than 10 transplant centers in Italy, Israel, France, South Korea, and others, covering over 50% of semi-matched transplant cases globally, making it the mainstream solution for leukemia treatment worldwide. The Fok Ying-Tung Prize is proof of years of effort by Huang Xiaojun and his team members.
