Hematology | Prof.Huang Xiaojun Elected as Foreign Academician of the French National Academy of Medicine

On January 9th, Académienationale de médecine de France (“the French National Academy of Medicine” in French) held a ceremony to confer certificates upon its newly elected academicians. Professor Huang Xiaojun was elected a foreign academician of the French National Academy of Medicine for his groundbreaking work and outstanding achievements in the field of bone marrow transplantation.

During the certificate presentation ceremony, Academician Norbert Claude Gorin of the French National Academy of Medicine remarked that China's achievements in the field of medicine contribute to all of humanity, including the pioneering advancements made by Academician Huang Xiaojun in the field of haploidentical bone marrow transplantation.


The French National Academy of Medicine is an authoritative institution for medical policy research and the dissemination of medical knowledge in France. Elected academicians come from both domestic and global medical fields of excellence. Since its inception, the Academy has had 11 Nobel laureates.


Professor Huang Xiaojun serves as the Director of the Peking University Institute of Hematology at Peking University People's Hospital and President of the Hematology Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He has long been committed to clinical and scientific research on malignant hematological diseases such as leukemia, daring to break through international transplantation barriers. Not only did he pioneer the “Beijing Protocol” for bone marrow transplantation, solving the world medical challenge of inadequate sources of bone marrow donors, but he also significantly improved the postoperative survival rate and quality of life for bone marrow transplant patients. He led the development of China's haploidentical bone marrow transplantation guidelines and technical specifications, contributing to the global advancement of bone marrow transplantation and leukemia treatment.
