2024-11-13
The 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was grandly launched on September 12, 2024, in Beijing. On the same day, during the 2024 Beijing International Conference for Public Health Cooperation (公共卫生国际论坛) , the Second Batch of Top Ten Achievements of the Capital’s Funds for Health Improvement and Research (CFH) (2012-2023) was unveiled. Two innovative contributions from Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH) were highlighted: a Regional Trauma Care System in Beijing led by Academician Jiang Baoguo’s team and the Precision Diagnosis and Treatment System for Endometrial Cancer developed by Professor Wang Jianliu’s team.
The Beijing Municipal Government has established CFH as a channel to advance international scientific and technological innovation, leverage the core role of scientific innovation in health development and promote the medical and technological achievements of medical staff in Beijing. The first batch of top ten achievements selected by the Beijing Municipal Health Commission was announced at the 2023 CIFTIS. The second batch was announced this year.
Academician Jiang Baoguo's Team: A Regional Trauma Care System in Beijing
In 2016, Academician Jiang Baoguo’s team pioneered the establishment of the Chinese Regional Trauma Care System (CRTCS). This innovative approach has reduced the treatment time for multiple trauma patients by 53% and decreased the mortality rate for severely injured patients in the hospital by 39%. This achievement won the second prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
Academician Jiang Baoguo introduced a novel concept of a closed-loop regional trauma treatment system with a comprehensive hospital as the core according to China's national condition and proposed to establish a trauma treatment team in a comprehensive hospital to replace independent trauma treatment centers. This innovation has significantly promoted the construction of a standardized urban trauma care system and improved the success rate of trauma treatment.
The team also developed a national trauma warning and response system using 5G technology and digital devices to build an emergency medical rescue network, benefiting over 8 million trauma patients to date. In September 2019, the National Center for Trauma Medicine was established at Peking University People's Hospital with the approval of the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China (NHC), serving as a pacemaker for the national trauma care system development.
Professor Wang Jianliu's Team: Precision Diagnosis and Treatment System for Endometrial Cancer
Endometrial cancer (EC) is one of the most prevalent gynecologic tumors, yet there has been a lack of prognostic models and precise treatment plans in clinical practice.
Since 2014, Professor Wang Jianliu’s team has worked to develop a custom EC gene chip and establish a prognostic model with an accuracy of 80% by identifying 21 genes closely related to the EC. In addition, Professor Wang Jianliu and his team have also created an EC typing system by integrating clinical research, molecular pathological research and immune microenvironment characteristics. Based on this, they proposed a pioneering hierarchical management system for low-risk, medium-risk and high-risk patients, each receiving tailored therapies. This targeted and precise treatment has increased the five-year survival rate for EC patients to 84%.
Their findings were published in prestigious international journals and resulted in two patents. The application of these research findings has significantly advanced EC diagnosis and treatment in China.
