Endocrinology and Metabolism | Head Nurse Zhang Mingxia Shares China's Achievements in Diabetes Care at ADC 2024

From August 21 to August 23, 2024, the
Australian Diabetes Congress (ADC 2024), co-hosted by the Australian Diabetes
Educators Association (ADEA) and the Australian Diabetes Society (ADS), was
held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Zhang Mingxia, Head Nurse
of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Peking University People's
Hospital, was invited to attend and share China’s achievements
in diabetes care at the conference.
ADC is one of the most prestigious global
conferences in the field of diabetes, jointly organized by ADS and ADEA. Over 2,000
experts and scholars from more than 70 countries joined this year’s conference,
covering the latest breakthroughs in diabetes research, education, and care globally.
As the Chair of the Diabetes Nursing Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association (CNA), Ms. Zhang led a delegation of 15 experts to participate in the conference. These experts presented the latest research findings of China’s diabetes care in various sessions, showcasing clinical and foundational research achievements and earning widespread recognition. Additionally, ADC’s official media also published a special feature on Chinese Nurses.
As an expert invited by the organizing committee,
Zhang Mingxia shared her perspective on “The Development and
Application of ‘Diabetes Education Toolboxes’ in China”. Her presentation highlighted the innovative approaches
and remarkable achievements of Chinese diabetes care professionals, earning high
praise from the audience.
During the 3-day meeting, Ms. Zhang engaged
in in-depth discussions with global experts, exchanging views on the current
state, challenges and clinical implications of diabetes care education in China.
According to ADC’s report, CEO Susan Davidson, President
Amanda Bartlett, and CDE Board Director Shannon Lin from ADEA held productive
discussions with Zhang Mingxia, focusing on strengthening global connections
and advancing diabetes education.
The Diabetes Nursing Committee of CNA
submitted a total of 26 papers to the ADC 2024, with 21 selected for oral
presentations and 5 displayed as posters, fully demonstrating and sharing the
latest research advancements in diabetes care research from China with the
world.
