Events | Peking University People’s Hospital Signs MOU with Faculty of Medicine at Macau University of Science and Technology

On May 1, 2024, Vice President Wang Tianbing of Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) and his delegation visited the Faculty of Medicine at Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.). They participated in the Sino-Luso International Medical Forum on the theme of "Regenerative Medicine and Disaster Emergency Response" and shared experiences with medical experts from Lisbon, Edinburgh, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macau.
During the conference, Vice President Wang
Tianbing, on behalf of PKUPH, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for
medical education cooperation with Dean Manson Fok of the Faculty of Medicine of
M.U.S.T.. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Liu Rui, Deputy Director of the
General Office of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office
of the Central People's Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR);
Shi Hao, Secretary-General of the Fok Ying-Tong Foundation; Professor Paul
Kwong Hang Tam, Vice President of M.U.S.T. and member of the Hong Kong
Academy of Sciences; and Liu Jing, Director of the Education Department of
PKUPH.
In his speech, Dean Manson Fok emphasized
that as a pioneer of medical education and the first dedicated medical school in
Macau SAR, M.U.S.T. is committed to enhancing cultural exchange, talent
cultivation, economic development, and social progress. The signing of the MOU
with PKUPH aims to deepen cooperation, providing more opportunities for academic,
educational, and clinical exchanges to advance medical development and
education between mainland China and Macau SAR.
Vice President Wang Tianbing remarked that
PKUPH, established as the first general hospital financed and operated by
Chinese nationals over a century ago and serving as the Peking University
Second School of Clinical Medicine, shares core values and missions with M.U.S.T..
The longstanding partnership between these two institutions has already
facilitated personnel exchanges and academic collaborations in past years. This
new memorandum will further promote advancements and explorations in medical
education and academic fields.
Previously, PKUPH hosted eight M.U.S.T.
medical students for short-term exchanges, enabling them to gain in-depth
insightsmainland China’s medical system and culture. In 2024, PKUPH plans
to collaborate with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lisbon to establish
an exchange program in Macau SAR for medical students from mainland China,
Macau SAR, and the Portuguese Republic. It is hoped that this exchange program
will invite more opportunities and inspiration for medical education at home and
abroad.
It is believed that the MOU between PKUPH and M.U.S.T. will deepen collaboration and make new contributions to the health and well-being of people in China and the rest of the world.
