Visits | Delegation from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University Visits Peking University People's Hospital

On the afternoon of November 28, 2023, a delegation from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, visited Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH). Mahidol University is a public research university. Its Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital is the oldest and largest medical school in Thailand.

 

The visiting delegation included the Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, the President of Siriraj Hospital, and professors in liver transplantation, pediatric hematology, and minimally invasive surgery. Program Officer Bai Jing of the International Cooperation Office from Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) accompanied the visit. PKUPH Vice President and professor Wang Jianliu of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Vice President and professor Wang Tianbing of the National Center for Trauma Medicine led representatives from three clinical departments to meet with the delegation, including Vice Chair and Chief Physician Li Zhao of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Associate Chief Physician Xie Bing of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Doctor Huang Shanyamei of Pediatric Hematology. 



 

Vice President Wang Jianliu warmly welcomed the delegation. “Mahidol University upholds the educational philosophy of ‘True success is not in the learning but in its application to the benefit of mankind’ ". He pointed out that this philosophy “is consistent with the talent cultivation philosophy of PKUHSC and PKUPH”. Vice President Wang Tianbing also mentioned his hope of deepening the cooperation between PKUPH and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in the future.



 

Dean Apichat Asavamongkolkul of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, expressed gratitude for the hospital's hospitality, stating that they had long heard about the advanced teaching and clinical skills of PKUPH. He indicated that the main purpose of this visit was to initiate in-depth cooperation in the field of medical education.

 

During the meeting, representatives from clinical departments provided detailed introductions on discipline advancement in recent years. After hearing the introductions from the discipline representatives, the delegation expressed a strong willingness to collaborate in clinical research and to increase opportunities for exchange among medical students and staff.
