On March 30th, the 2nd Grand
Canal Medical Forum, themed "Hospital's High-Quality Development Driven by
Research and Development," was opened in Tongzhou District of Beijing. The
forum was organized by Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) with the
presence of seven academicians, including Gao Fu, Cheng Heping, Qiao Jie, Wang
Jun, Fan Chunhai, Jiang Baoguo, and Zhang Qiang. Noteworthy attendees also
included Mao Qun’an, Director of the Planning and Information Department of the
National Health Commission; Guo Yanhong, Director of the Medical Emergency
Response Department of the National Health Commission; Liu Mingche, Counselor
of the European-Central Asian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and China's Permanent Representative of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
(SCO) Member States to the SCO Secretariat; Zhang Jingwei, representative of
the Ministry of Emergency Management; Shokhruh Bobonov, Adviser of the SCO
Secretariat.
During the forum, the China-SCO Emergency
Medicine Cooperation Center was unveiled, marking its establishment at PKUPH. Director Guo
Yanhong from the National Health Commission emphasized that “the center's goal to foster communication and practical
cooperation in emergency medicine among China and SCO member countries, bolster
regional medical rescue capabilities during emergencies, and fortify a regional
health defense”. PKUPH's National Center for Trauma Medicine and National
Emergency Medical Rescue Hub will play a pivotal role in China's response to
sudden public health crises and natural disasters. “The cooperation center not only facilitates sharing medical
resources but also strengthens medical and health collaboration among SCO
member countries,” remarked Wang Jun, President of
PKUPH.
The “Academician Forum”, a focal
point of the event, featured academicians delivering keynote speeches on topics
like high-end biomedical equipment and advanced drug formulation. Subsequently,
ten professional sub-forums commenced, covering a wide array of areas including
thoracic tumors, trauma treatment, hematologic diseases, obstetric and
gynecological diseases, neurological diseases, general surgery,
emergency/cardiovascular diseases, molecular pathology, kidney transplantation,
and health education. Invited academicians and industry-leading experts delved
into hot topics and frontier issues in their respective domains, engaging in
insightful discussions with attendees regarding significant clinical and
research advancements in recent years.
