The latest research findings from the team led by Dr. Chen Hongsong at Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) and Hepatology Institute of Peking University have been published in the prestigious Journal for Immunotherapy of Cancer, the official journal of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).
The study, titled "Dominant Neoantigen Verification in Hepatocellular Carcinoma by a Single Plasmid System Coexpressing Patient HLA and Antigen," marks a significant stride in liver cancer research. The team of Prof. Chen Hongsong, utilizing their innovatively developed Co-HA system (plasmid system coexpressing patient HLA and antigen peptides, with authorized patent number LZ202010634108.1), successfully established a comprehensive platform for screening, identifying, and immunologically assessing dominant neoantigens in liver cancer.
Notably, this research achieved a milestone by screening and conducting in-depth validation of dominant neoantigens in liver cancer patients for the first time. The groundbreaking work includes a patented tumor neoantigen peptide and its application (authorized patent number ZL202111576586.2).
The studys outcomes are anticipated to provide highly effective specific targets for immunotherapy in late-stage liver cancer patients. This research not only sets the theoretical groundwork for the widespread application of tumor neoantigen therapy in clinical settings but also furnishes a theoretical and experimental basis for the precise treatment of tumors.
The papers co-first authors, doctoral student Chen Pu and Assistant Researcher Chen Dongbo from the Hepatology Institute of PKUPH, spearheaded this collaborative effort. The co-corresponding authors include Prof. Chen Hongsong from PKUPH, Assistant Researcher Chen Dongbo from PKUPH, Dr. Xie Xingwang from Beijing CorreGene Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Prof. Liao Weijia from Guilin Medical College Affiliated Hospital.
