As a designated hospital of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) formed a special team consisting of 180 medical practitioners from 36 departments to provide medical security for the participants in such events as figure skating, short track speed skating and ice hockey at the Capital Indoor Stadium, Beijing; it also sent 55 staff members from 27 departments to the National Sliding Center in northwestern Beijing’s Yanqing district, where the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge events in the Beijing Winter Olympics were being held.

To implement a strict closed-loop management policy, PKUPH set up a clinic for Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games medical services, and at the same time formulated regulations on the diagnosis and treatment process for all personnel within the closed loop, so as to completely isolate Olympics-related personnel from the public outside the loop. In addition, PKUPH came up with targeted contingency plans and organized a series of training and simulation exercises relevant to providing medical care services for the Winter Olympics.

After a series of intensive training and drills in the early stage, as well as providing medical security services for test events before the Winter Olympics, PKUPH verified the process and trained the medical team in actual encounters. From January 4th to February 20th, the clinic for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games medical services at PKUPH received 63 patient visits within the closed loop, and the medical team at the National Sliding Center treated 40 wounded and sick.
