Trauma Medicine | Prof. Jiang Baoguo won the Gusi Peace Prize 2016

At the evening on 23rd November 2016, the 15th award ceremony of Gusi Peace Prize was held in Manila International Conference Center, the capital of Philippines., Prof. Jiang representing for Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) and other 14 award-winners coming from 13 countries and regions participated in the award ceremony.
Gusi Peace Prize in Philippines is similar to Nobel Prize that it is the only two world peace awards recorded by the United Nations. Prof. Jiang from PKUPH was awarded the Gusi Peace Prize in 2016 due to his outstanding devotions to medical field, especially for the innovative findings of the research on peripheral nerve injury regeneration and the establishment of trauma rescue and treatment systems in China.
The international committee of Gusi Peace Prize in Philippines spoke highly of Prof. Jiang due to his consistent efforts to improve human health. The committee highly affirmed Prof. Jiang's research on peripheral nerve injury regeneration for 30 years who was the first one to launch suture technique of small gap suture instead of traditional nerve outer membrane suture. In addition to his devotion to the standardization and promotion of severe trauma rescue and treatment systems, Prof. Jiang succeeded to be a model worthy of others imitation all over the world.
Barry Gusi couple, the chairman of Gusi Peace Fundation, Mr Huo Wenxun, the new chairman of Gusi Peace Prize and Doctor Michael Nobel, the founder of Nobel Prize Alfred Nobel’s offspring were gathered to confer the certificate of Gusi Peace Prize. The awarding scene was surrounded by applauds from attendants.
Prof. Jiang gave the acceptance speech. “I would like to convey my gratitude to Gusi Peace Prize Foundation for presenting me this prestigious peace award. To be recognized for my research on peripheral nerve injury regeneration and efforts in building China trauma rescue and treatment system is truly beyond my expectations. I consider this award as an honor not only to me personally, but also to my country China, to all Chinese doctors, to all staff members of Peking University People’s Hospital, and to all those who have made great contributions to improving and protecting people’s health.”
