Events | Global Talent Cultivation to Fuel the High-Quality Development of the Peking University People’s Hospital
“人民人”国际化人才培养,提高医院新质生产力
2024-07-02
2024 has been designated the Year of Talent
Strategy at Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH). The hospital sponsored
a series of overseas programs for its staff to enhance their professional
skills, enrich their global perspectives and introduce advanced medical
technologies and management practices to the hospital.
In late 2023, PKUPH launched the Young
Talent Overseas Program, selecting outstanding medical staff to advance their
studies at renowned medical institutions abroad. Besides, the hospital has established
long-term relationships with international medical institutions in academic
activities and research projects.
Since its inception, the Young Talent Overseas
Program has sponsored 19 applicants with strong academic potential and
innovative spirit to pursue one-year study programs at prestigious medical
schools, research institutes, healthcare institutions worldwide. Through these
long-term studies, the young scholars are expected to facilitate international
medical exchanges and collaboration, promoting the hospital's sustainable
development.
Short-term overseas programs are another
part of the 2024 talent strategy to strengthen the hospital’s international
exchange and cooperation. Through short-term exchanges such as attending seminars
and academic conferences, the doctors and scholars communicate deeply with
worldwide practitioners in their professional research fields and gain insights
into advanced medical progress and service concepts. This helps the hospital
continually enhance its service standards and quality while increasing its
global reputation.
A notable example was Vice President Yang
Fan and Director Xu Junjun of the Day Surgery Center attending the UK-China
Ambulatory Surgery Conference in London in March 2024 to better understand the current trends of
day surgery. Besides, in May 2024, the hospital sent a group of management
staff, led by Vice President Zhao Xiangyu, to attend the University of Michigan
Medical School’s Global Executive Education Program in Ann Arbor.
The hospital has supported various overseas
programs by providing necessary funding and implementing a comprehensive
tracking management mechanism. This ensures that those studying abroad make the
most of these valuable opportunities and achieve significant academic results.
The hospital has maintained close contact with these personnel, keeping abreast
of their learning, work, and life conditions, and providing necessary
assistance.
Promoting these programs during the
hospital’s Talent Strategy Year is one of the crucial measures to enhance the
personnel’s professional development and advance the hospital’s medical
profession. These programs not only expand the hospital’s international
influence but also cultivate a group of young innovative talents with global
vision, laying a solid foundation for elevating the hospital’s strength in
medical service, education and research achievements to a new level.
