2022-07-06

Recently, the medical staff of the Pediatric Neonatal Care Unit of Peking University People’s Hospital and the babys mother celebrated 100th Day for an extremely premature baby who was born at 25 weeks +2 days. 100 days ago, Jun Jun, the newborn “palm-sized preemie” was born.

The past 100 days have been “a tightrope walk” not only for Jun Jun, but also for his family and the medical staff guarding him. Under the care and treatment of the pediatric medical staff day and night, Jun Jun went through all kinds of dangers, gained weight from 980g to 3850g, body length from 32cm to 48.5cm. His feet grew nearly twice, his vital signs tended to be stable, and his milk intake could reach 75ml per meal. He has grown from a life-threateningly low birth-weight child with the size of an adults handa beloved “chubby cherub”. 100 days of hard work is worthy for this heartwarming moment.

Jun Jun is not the lowest weight among the extremely premature infants successfully treated in Peking University People's Hospital at present. Keeping the original intention of being responsible for each life, the team took responsibility bravely and practiced skills diligently, and successfully saved life from the danger again and again. More and more “palm-sized preemies” were successfully rescued here.
