Visits | Peking University People’s Hospital Holds Training Courses for Belt and Road Initiative Countries

Entrusted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the International Health Exchange and Cooperation Center of the National Health Commission, Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) successfully held online Training Course on COVID-19 Diagnosis and Treatment for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Countries, and Seminar on COVID-19 Prevention and Control and Public Health Safety for BRI Countries in April and May of 2021 respectively. Nearly 90 health officials and medical practitioners from Mongolia, Kenya, the Philippines, Sudan and Venezuela participated in the courses.
The training courses mainly focused on the latest development of COVID-19 pandemic, early identification of COVID-19, etiological and epidemiological features of the disease, imaging diagnosis, nucleic acid detection technologies, treatment and management solutions for patients with mild and critical symptoms, treatment of COVID-19 using traditional Chinese medicine, nursing care for patients with COVID-19, diagnosis and treatment of pregnant women and infants with COVID-19, infection control and prevention for COVID-19, development and vaccination of COVID-19 vaccines, etc.
Prof. AN Youzhong, Prof. FENG Cuiling, Prof. CAO Zhaolong, Prof. ZHU Fengxue, Prof. GAO Yan, Prof. RAO Huiying, Chief Nurse WANG Ling, Associate Chief Physician CHEN Lei, Associate Chief Physician CHEN Zhe, Associate Researcher LIU Yudong and other frontline experts shared their knowledge and practice regarding prevention and control of COVID-19, issues of public health safety, and their experiences in treating coronavirus patients in Hubei and Xinjiang.
Prof. WU Zunyou, the chief epidemiologist from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, was invited to give a lecture on China’s solution to COVID-19 prevention and control and its implementation effects. Mr. YANG Hongwei, former deputy director of the Development Research Center of the National Health Commission, introduced China’s health system and its reform. Associate Researcher LI Juan, from the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, presented a lecture on the global research progress and vaccination of COVID-19 vaccines.
During the training period, Chinese experts and participants from BRI countries discussed topics related to COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment, and issues of public health safety. The training courses served as a good platform for health officials and medical practitioners from BRI countries and Chinese counterparts to share their experiences in fighting the virus and learn from each other.
The COVID-19 outbreak has become a severe public health challenge to the world.During this special period, PKUPH has been willing to collaborate with medical colleagues around the world, share its anti-epidemic experience, and make efforts to contribute to global pandemic prevention and control.
