Arthritis Clinic and Research Center

Peking University Arthritis Clinic and Research Center (ACRC) was established in 1990. It is the first institution in China to integrate diagnosis, treatment, and research in joint diseases, and the first clinical center in the country to perform artificial joint arthroplasty and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery.

We provide high-quality care and services for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal problems around the joints. Each year, our clinical staff cares for a large number of patients. Our surgeons treat conditions such as arthritis and sports injuries, and manage complex cases including hip/knee joint replacements. The Arthroplasty Service specializes in innovative reconstructive surgeries for patients with arthritic hips/knees and other joint disorders. We also serve as a referral center for rare and complex cases. The Sports Medicine Service specializes in ACL/PCL reconstruction, meniscus repair, and arthroscopy of the shoulder/hip/ankle. Annually, we perform approximately 2,000 arthroplasties and 1,000 arthroscopic surgeries.

In recent years, we have intensified our focus on the prevention, treatment, and research of early-stage arthropathy. Based on the stage and severity of each patient's condition, we provide individualized treatment plans, including exercise rehabilitation, conventional conservative therapies, and surgical interventions.

Through our continued efforts and contributions to the advancement of joint disease management, our center has been recognized with honors such as "National Key Disciplines", "The Ministry of Education Progress Award" as well as "The Second Prize of Science and Technology Award”. Dr. Lin Jianhao, the chief of Peking University Arthritis Clinic and Research Center, has been prized as the leading expert in the management and research of Ten Major Diseases by the Beijing Science Committee in the spine and joint disease field.

Meanwhile, we are also committed to providing Continuing Medical Education (CME) in joint disease diagnosis and treatment technologies. Since 1990, we have conducted annual CME courses in artificial joint arthroplasty, with thousands of surgeons having participated in academic exchanges and hands-on training in our department.
