Department of Neurology

The Department of Neurology was founded in 1983. Our outstanding clinical staff includes 24 doctors, 22 nurses, and 8 technicians. Among them, there are 3 with postdoctoral degrees, 5 with doctoral degrees, 12 with master's degrees, and 7 with overseas experience in workingstudying.

With modern facilities, our department offers comprehensive services to patients. We are committed to delivering high-quality, professional diagnosis, treatment, and care for a broad range of neurological disorders and symptoms, as well as common and rare diseases such as acute cerebrovascular diseases, headaches, spinal cord diseases, epilepsy, peripheral neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, and multiple sclerosis. In addition, we have participated in the development of national guidelines and expert recommendations in neurology.

Over 90,000 outpatients and 1,200 inpatients visit our Department annually. Rare cases are discussed among neurologists for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

The department is not only responsible for the education of Peking University's medical students but also offers extensive educational and training programs for neurology students, social workers, and nurses specializing in neurological care. To date, our department has trained 7 master's students and 5 doctoral students.

We are well equipped with advanced medical instruments such as EMG, video-EEG, VEP, SEP, BAEP, TCD, and CVA, in addition to MRI, CT, DSA, and PET, supported by a team of well-trained technicians. Neuromuscular biopsies and neuropathological examinations can also be performed.
