Clinical Laboratory
Overview
The Clinical Laboratory at Peking University People's Hospital (PKUPH) integrates clinical diagnostics, education, and research. It serves as a key laboratory medicine center at PKUPH and plays a crucial role in disease diagnosis and monitoring at national and regional levels.
The department obtained CNAS ISO15189 accreditation in 2008, was designated as a National Clinical Key Specialty in 2010, and received CAP accreditation in 2015. In 2022, it was recognized as a key specialty in epidemic prevention in Beijing. Additionally, it serves as a national training base for bacterial resistance monitoring, the Beijing branch of the China Fungal Disease Surveillance System, a standardized training base for residents/laboratory technicians and the lead institution of the Medical Laboratory Quality Control and Improvement Center in Xicheng District, Beijing. It was also the first in China to establish a drug-resistant bacterial resource library, a mass spectrometry analysis platform, a high-throughput sequencing platform, a flow cytometry platform, and a bioinformatics workstation, significantly enhancing its service capacity and academic influence.
The department is led by Professor Wang Hui, a renowned expert in clinical laboratory medicine and infectious disease diagnostics. Professor Wang Hui serves as a leading figure in multiple national and international academic organizations and has made outstanding contributions to the development of laboratory medicine in China.
The department consists of a well-structured team of laboratory physicians, medical technologists, and researchers. Many faculty members hold key positions in the Chinese Medical Association, the Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine, and the Chinese Association of Clinical Laboratory Management, actively shaping industry standards and guidelines.
