About US

The history of the department of pharmacy can be traced back to the “Zhonghe Hospital” period before liberation. There were only a dozen of pharmacy personnel who worked together to complete the work of medicine supply and drug dispensing. Gone through nearly a century, the pharmacy department gradually developeda comprehensive section undertaking duties ofpharmaceutical care, researchand teaching.Now there are 119 staffs of whom 6 with Ph. D, 23 with master degree and 48 with bachelor degree, including 5 chief pharmacists and 5 associate chief pharmacists.


With the development of hospital pharmacy, our responsibility is not only to supply medicine, ensure quality of medicine, provide drug information for patients and hospital staffs, but also to promote safe, economic, rational and efficient use of medicine.Exactly, we are dedicated to individualized medicine.Pharmacists round with doctors and nurses to be a therapeutic team in wards of respiratory, gynecology, neurology, ICU, infection, pediatric, endocrine and kidney disease. Pharmacists are responsible for reviewing the patient medicine regimen and monitoring the patient’s response. Another highlight of our department is therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). In 2016, more than 40,000 samples were detected, which was conducive to personalized drug therapy of patients.

The department of pharmacy is committed to providing comprehensive educational programs for postgraduate, undergraduate and junior college students. It has been approved as the teaching base of Pharmaceutical School of Peking University Health Science Center, the clinical pharmacists training base of National Health and Family Planning Commission of the PRC, and the resident pharmacists standardized training base ofBeijing.


Our department maintains a strong commitment to research. Pharmacists participate in not only independent studies but also collaborative projects with doctors and nurses. We also serve as study coordinators, co-investigators and clinical monitors in drug investigations.Our department has already accomplished research programs about pharmacokinetics, neuropharmacology, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacy administration and adverse drug reactions. During the past five years, our department obtained grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the PRC, the Ministry of Education of China, the Twelfth Five Year National Science and Technology Support Program, the Beijing Pharmaceutical Association, the Peking University People’s Hospital, etc. The pharmacy departmentpublished more than 20 papers in core pharmacy journals including SCIevery year recently. It also contributed to more than 20 monographs.
