Prof. JIANG Baoguo Elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering
On November 18th, 2021, the results of the new member election of the Chinese Academy of Engineering were announced. Prof. JIANG Baoguo, president of Peking University People’s Hospital and director of the National Center for Trauma Medicine, was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Hence the number of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering at Peking University People’s Hospital has reached three.
Prof. JIANG Baoguo has carried out pioneering research and systematic exploration in the fields of peripheral nerve injury repair, peripheral fractures treatment, and severe trauma treatment system construction. He has made multiple achievements in academic research on reducing the mortality and disability rates of patients with trauma.
Prof. JIANG Baoguo studied at China Medical University from 1979 to 1987, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in clinical medicine and a master’s degree in anatomy. In 1988, he enrolled in the MD program at Beijing Medical University. During the period from 1990 to 1992, he went to Niigata University in Japan as part of China’s first batch of students participating in a program of Sino-Japanese joint doctoral training. In 1992, he obtained a doctoral degree in orthopedics from Beijing Medical University.
Prof. JIANG Baoguo is currently serving as the director of the National Center for Trauma Medicine, president of Peking University People’s Hospital, dean of the Faculty of Orthopedics of Peking University, director of Peking University Trauma Medicine Center, and chair of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics of Peking University People’s Hospital.
Prof. JIANG Baoguo has been engaged in clinical practice of trauma surgery for a long time, and is committed to academic research on reducing the mortality and disability rates of patients with trauma. He is deemed as a leading academic figure in the field of multiple traumatic injuries treatment in China. Prof. JIANG has made important achievements in the areas of peripheral nerve injury repair technology, joint fracture diagnosis and treatment technology, and severe trauma treatment system construction. He has successively won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Achievement Award.
